Our Story
At Fortress Florida Home Builders, our story begins long before the first wall went up.
Geno Accra, known to many as the “get it done” guy, spent over 20 years building businesses, restaurants, and commercial spaces from the ground up. His passion for construction, team leadership, and making things happen became his reputation. But life took an unexpected turn when he faced serious health challenges. After beating the odds, Geno and his wife Patty decided it was time to slow down and embrace a simpler life on Sanibel Island.
They arrived in 2021, ready to enjoy the beauty of island living. But when Hurricane Ian devastated their home and their community in 2023, Geno knew he couldn’t stand by. He founded Sanibel Services to help neighbors recover, coordinating cleanup crews and assisting hundreds of homeowners in the rebuilding process.
Through this experience, Geno learned what really works—and what fails—when it comes to building on a barrier island. He saw firsthand which homes stood strong and which crumbled. This inspired a new mission: to build homes that are smarter, stronger, and truly resilient.
That mission became Fortress Florida Builders. Today, Geno leads a trusted team dedicated to building homes that are built to last, using the right materials, engineering, and construction methods to stand up to the toughest storms. Because for Geno, building isn’t just a job—it’s personal.
